I got my Socks That Rock yarn (in Cobalt Bloom) from Blue Moon Fiber Arts this morning. Not sure how I feel about the color. The colors seem so much darker/brighter/obnoxious than the photo. I'll still knit with it... I'll still make socks out of it... but Jaywalker socks as planned? Not so sure now that I saw the result of these ones. I'm now afraid the colors will stripe and even though that's GREAT at the top, it doesn't look so great on the foot of the sock.
Over the weekend, I got some Lorna's Laces Shepard sock, though. A colorway that screamed at me! There isn't a colorway that could be more "me." The colorway is Neon - it's yellow, orange, and pink. These WILL be Jaywalker socks. I really don't think the yarn will stripe... maybe pool in a few places, but not the stripy thing those ones above have. Now don't get me wrong about her socks! I love the colorway and they came out great, but I would have done a different pattern. Personal preference... I'm sure you understand.
Right now I'm trying so hard not to start socks (which has suddenly become an obsession for me). With either of the yarns! I've got 4 projects on the needles now and that's enough for the moment. Granted they're all small projects, they're still projects! I'm nearly done with Mrs Beaton. Goodness I love Rowan Cashsoft DK! If it weren't so expensive (and came in such tiny balls... er.... skeins), I'd be making a sweater out of it as my next project. But it's okay... I have a whole other skein set aside for Odessa which I will be making soon enough.
I'm coveting two books currently: Knitting Vintage Socks and Knitting on the Road, both by Nancy Bush. Hopefully soon I can get one or both of those books. If my sock obsession continues, they will be a wonderful resource to add to my collection.
Okay, that's all I've got for now. Happy crafting everyone :o)
Oh, and just for the heck of it because I rambled a lot about socks in this post... here's a meme:
Wow! You would have been a pair of socks as long
as it's possible for socks to be before
they're tights - and all multi-coloured with
pretty patterns and detail all over the place
- then you could stand and admire your
sock-self all day!
What type of sock are you?
